The Jungfrauenrast, or Virgins’ Rest (also called “Linden Tree”) is a memorial and reminds of the place where, according to legend, the three virgins are supposed to have rested while fleeing to Meransen from Attila, the king of the Huns. A small spring and the rotted stem of a cherry tree play witness to this place. The old pictorial representation of the Three Holy Virgins was replace by a bas-relief by Friedrich Gurschler.
