Wurmaulspitze
Maranza, Valles
Wurmaulspitze, 3022 m
Starting point Vals / Fane Alm
Spectacular steep downhill run through the gorge of the Stilonbach, a stream, after an ascent which requires alpine experience and good fitness level.
The gorge can only be traversed when the avalanches have fallen from both valley sides. The best time to travel, therefore, is spring. After a cold night and an on time start, the ski tour, which has a high avalanche risk in winter, is totally safe.
Ascent: 1350 altitude meters / 4 hours
Upwards from the car park to the Fane-Alm, a short trip into the valley until you can see the valley of the Stilonbach on the right. Through this gorge-like valley steeply and painstakingly to a ridge, the “Joch der Enge“ (2732 m). With a little loss of altitude in the direction of Northwest, then across a wonderful south slope to the start of the rocky southern ridge. Ski depot (approx. 2950 m). Continue across not very difficult rocks, ahead of peak to the west of the ridge rope securings. Descent 1300 m same as ascent.
We will be pleased to provide a local mountain guide to make your tour an unforgettable experience.
