A unique yet varied Alpine landscape that people never tire of admiring and exploring. Perched at an altitude of 1,414 metres, Meransen is an attractive destination for walkers, hikers and nature enthusiasts. Small and friendly, with a population of just 450, the village radiates a homely, welcoming atmosphere. Local attractions include the late Gothic parish church of St. Jakob and the Three Virgins in the village centre. If you visit Meransen in winter, let yourself be tempted by its shimmering white expanses. A real sight to behold, the snowy landscape might appear to be an untouchable work of art, but in fact it offers lots of sports and leisure opportunities. The valley terminal of the lift that takes you to the Gitschberg Jochtal ski resort is just a short walk from the village centre. So, whichever hotel in the Pustertal valley you choose, you can always reach the ski resort at 2,113 metres of altitude in no time. When you do, you can have your pick: ski pistes, snowboard terrains and toboggan runs are all there for you. If you would rather enjoy a more contemplative experience, you can choose one of the winter walking paths and soak up the peace and tranquillity in which Meransen is immersed during winter, looking for animal tracks in the snow and relishing the crunching sound of the snow under your feet.

From spring to autumn, Meransen is a triumph of bright colours and natural scents – imagine lush green, flower-dotted meadows at the sides of the roads and as far as the eye can see, the rich scent of hay in the air, sunny skies and unclouded views of the Alpine surroundings. How to get to Meransen.

Meransen is situated in the Pustertal valley, in South Tyrol (Italy). To get there by car, drive to Mühlbach and follow the signs to Meransen.

If you are travelling by train from the north, south or west, change at Franzensfeste station and take the train to Mühlbach. From there, you can reach Meransen by cable car. If you are travelling by train from the east, get off at Mühlbach station and take the cable car to Meransen.
