Gitschberg Jochtal: the ski resort for your winter holiday in Italy

Here’s a foretaste

For years the Gitschberg Jochtal ski resort has been a well-kept secret among South Tyrol’s ski resorts. Situated at an altitude between 1,307 and 2,510 metres above the Pustertal valley, it is the largest ski resort in the Eisacktal and Wipptal area. You can get there easily from either Meransen or Vals. The Gitschberg Jochtal ski resort is served by 15 lifts and offers 25 pistes over a total of 55 kilometres at different levels of difficulty for seasoned skiers and beginners alike. Now, let’s see more in detail what it has in store for you...

The Gitschberg Jochtal ski resort in detail

Of all the ski resorts in South Tyrol, the Gitschberg Jochtal ski resort is one of the most family-friendly. There are three children’s snow parks for a fun-filled day on the snow, and ski schools where children can learn the ropes from qualified ski instructors. If you’re after a timeless thrill, there are also four natural toboggan runs on which you can race each other to the finish line: the BRIMI Winter Run in Meransen, the Schilling toboggan run in Vals, a toboggan run in the village of Terenten and one that connects the Pertinger Alp to Terenten. The Gitschberg Jochtal ski resort is served by the Gaisjoch cable car, which holds the record as the highest single-rope cable car in Italy with a highest point at 93 metres above the ground, and a 538-metre span between two supports.

If you are more of a cross-country fan, we have you covered! There are highly panoramic trails waiting for you on the Rodenecker-Lüsner Alp, in Terenten and in Vals. The Gitschberg Jochtal ski resort also offers plenty of options for winter walking, with a wide choice of well-signposted paths that we keep carefully manicured so you can focus on enjoying the view of snow-powdered peaks and tree tops.
